Run under the whole clip
Grain & Vignette
The persistent one. Animated grain, a vignette that breathes with the flicker, a warm cast the way print stock leans, and a hair in the gate every few seconds for the ones who will notice. It never performs and never leaves — it runs under the whole clip.

What it's for
The persistent one. Animated grain, a vignette that breathes with the flicker, a warm cast the way print stock leans, and a hair in the gate every few seconds for the ones who will notice. It never performs and never leaves — it runs under the whole clip.
Reach for it when
- Over a graded clip, to finish a LUT with the texture the grade implies
- Under a whole vlog or short film, so every shot shares one stock
- On clean phone footage that reads too digital for the story it is telling
How it plays
Everything is deterministic in the frame number. Grain that used a random number would differ between a preview and an export of the same frame, and a scrub would boil; here a frame always looks the same. It is colour with alpha, never a composite mode, so it exports as an alpha overlay and lands the same way in every editor — which is the reason it can sit next to a LUT pack: the grade underneath is untouched. Fine, 16mm or 8mm; the vignette off, soft or heavy; the cast, the hair and the flicker each their own switch.
Not the right pick when
Footage that is already grainy — low-light phone video, high-ISO night shots — where a second layer of grain reads as noise. Use the vignette alone, or the Spec Plate if what you want is a persistent frame.
The FILM family
FILM is the paperwork of a shoot as motion — the slate, the leader, the slug line, the credits, the grain. It is built for creators who shoot like filmmakers, and it is the one family where the typeface is the design rather than a slot: Bodoni for the credits, Bebas for the slate and the leader, Courier for the page. Nothing in it glows, leaks or flares; everything is colour with alpha, so what you see in the Studio is what lands on your timeline.
