What it's for

The clapperboard, and the clap is the transition. The board rises with a small overshoot and holds for the read; the sticks close, the frame pops white for two frames, and the board drops out with your shot already running underneath.

Reach for it when

  • The cold open of a vlog, short film or behind-the-scenes cut
  • Episode markers on a series, where the scene and take numbers do real work
  • Any creator who wants the first frame to say “this was shot, not filmed”

How it plays

Every line on the board is a field — production, scene, take, roll, INT/EXT, director, camera, date — because a creator who reaches for this wants the object, not a picture of it. The values letter in Bebas Neue the way a real board does; the small labels take your brand font, which is the one place on a slate a channel’s own face belongs. There is no separate exit: a slate that holds is a title card in a costume.

Not the right pick when

A title that needs to be read for more than two seconds. Use Title Settle, or the Letterbox Reveal if you want the film register without the prop.

The FILM family

FILM is the paperwork of a shoot as motion — the slate, the leader, the slug line, the credits, the grain. It is built for creators who shoot like filmmakers, and it is the one family where the typeface is the design rather than a slot: Bodoni for the credits, Bebas for the slate and the leader, Courier for the page. Nothing in it glows, leaks or flares; everything is colour with alpha, so what you see in the Studio is what lands on your timeline.
