What it's for

The main opening title. Your title arrives wide and loose and contracts into place while the frame dips for it, then comes back up. Nothing travels across the shot.

Reach for it when

• The opening title of any long-form upload
• Series intros where the same title lands every episode
• Cutting a title over moving B-roll that already has direction

How it plays

Contraction rather than travel is the whole idea. A title that slides in has a direction, and if your B-roll is panning the other way the two fight; a title that tightens in place has no direction to conflict with, so it cuts cleanly against any shot regardless of what the camera is doing. The footage dip gives it contrast without needing a card behind it.

Not the right pick when

Mid-video section breaks. Use the Chapter Break, which dips the same way but carries a part number.
